The Film Revenue Strategy Lab

Stop Guessing Who Your Audience Is. Start Building It.

4 Weeks. Your Film. Your Audience. Your Revenue Strategy.

You made the film or you’re getting ready to. But who is going to show up for it?

And how will you turn their attention into relationships, opportunities, and eventually revenue?

That’s what we’re going to work on.

The Film Revenue Strategy Lab is a four-week live working intensive where you’ll take YOUR film through the process of identifying your audience, finding ways to reach them, exploring revenue opportunities, testing your assumptions, and deciding what to do next.

This isn’t about watching me build a strategy for somebody else’s movie.

Bring me YOUR film. We’re building yours.

This is a Lab. Come Ready to Work.

Knowing your audience is important.

Actually finding them, talking to them, building relationships, and learning what they respond to is where things get interesting.

Over four weeks, we’ll work through the strategy together. Then you’ll take pieces of it into the real world between sessions.

You’ll come back with what you learned, what worked, what didn’t, and what surprised you.

Then we adjust.

IDEAS → PRIORITIES → ACTION → DATA → ADJUST

No disappearing for six months to build something nobody asked for.  We’re going to start learning from your audience now.

What We’ll Build Around YOUR Film

Week 1: Find Your Audience

Clarify who your film is really for, how to position it, where those people already gather, and who already has relationships with them.

You’ll begin identifying potential Audience Bridges that can help you reach the right people without trying to build an audience one follower at a time.

Week 2: Find the Revenue Opportunities

Explore potential revenue pathways around your film and intellectual property, including partnerships, products, experiences, licensing, community opportunities, and more.

Then we’ll narrow the possibilities down to the ones that actually make sense for your film, your audience, and your resources.

Week 3: Get Out of the Building

Now we start testing.

You’ll begin having conversations, exploring partnerships, building audience relationships, and testing assumptions so your strategy is informed by real people, not just ideas on a whiteboard.

Week 4: Decide What Happens Next

We’ll look at what you learned and turn it into a focused 30-Day Execution Plan.

Not 40 billion things you could do.

The next things you should do.

What You’ll Leave With

At the end of four weeks, you won’t just have more information.

You’ll have the beginnings of an audience and revenue strategy built specifically around YOUR film, including:

  • A clearer target audience and positioning

  • An Audience Ecosystem showing where your people already are

  • Potential Audience Bridges and strategic partners

  • Prioritized revenue opportunities

  • Real-world audience feedback and market signals

  • A strategy for continuing to build audience relationships

  • A focused 30-Day Execution Plan

Most importantly, you’ll have started the work.  You won’t be figuring it out alone. Throughout the Lab, I’ll help you challenge assumptions, evaluate opportunities, interpret what you’re learning from your audience, and decide what deserves your time and money, and what doesn’t.

Yes, We’ll Use AI. No, AI Isn’t Running the Show!

We’ll use AI to help research audiences, explore opportunities, challenge assumptions, and work faster.

But this is not an AI class.

Your creativity, strategic judgment, and conversations with real people remain at the center of the work.

The Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit Will Be Our Working Guide

Throughout the Lab, we’ll be working directly from the Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit as we move through audience, positioning, revenue opportunities, audience building, validation, and execution.

You do not have to own the Toolkit to attend the Lab, but I strongly recommend having a copy. It will give you the prompts, frameworks, and exercises we’ll be referencing in class and make it much easier to continue the work between sessions.

Think of the Toolkit as the textbook. The Lab is where we take what’s inside it and apply it to YOUR film.

Already own the Toolkit? Perfect. Crack that baby open and bring it with you.

Don’t have it yet? You can still participate, but I recommend getting a copy before we begin so you can get the most out of the four weeks.

Your Film Needs More Than Distribution.

Distribution can give your film access.

But you still need people who know about it, care about it, and want what you're offering.

The Lab is where we start building that strategy around your film, so you can stop wondering what you could do and start figuring out what you're actually going to do next.

Bring your film. Bring your questions. Come ready to work.

What stage is your project right now?
Do you currently own The Filmmaker's AI Strategy Toolkit?
Yes, I already have it.
No, not yet.

The Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit will serve as our working guide throughout the Lab. You can participate without it, but I strongly recommend having a copy so you can follow the frameworks, prompts, and exercises we’ll be using and continue the work between sessions.

What is your primary goal for this film/project?
How did you hear about the Film Revenue Strategy Lab?

Optional. Share anything you think would be helpful for me to know before we begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I participate in the Lab once I register:
After you register you will receive an email with a Zoom link and other detailed instructions regarding the Lab.

How does the Payment Plan work?

The price of the class will be broken up into three monthly payments. The payments will be deducted automatically each month on the card you provide. If you have a discount code the discount will be applied to the first payment. If you do not have funds available at the time of the automatic deduction a $25 late fee will be applied to your account. After two late payments, you will no longer have access to any learning materials until your balance is paid in full.  The payment plan divides your tuition into installments; it is not a subscription. By selecting the payment plan, you are committing to the full tuition amount.

What if I have to miss a day of Lab?

Life happens!

All sessions will be recorded, and registered students will have access to the replays for 90 days. However, I strongly encourage you to attend live whenever possible. This is a working Lab, and a big part of the value comes from asking questions, getting feedback, sharing what you learned between sessions, and refining your strategy in real time.

Do I need the Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit?

You do not have to own the Toolkit to participate, but I strongly recommend it. We’ll be working directly from many of the frameworks, prompts, and exercises inside the Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit throughout the four weeks. Think of the Toolkit as our textbook. The Toolkit gives you the framework. The Lab is where we apply that framework to YOUR film.

Do I need to have a completed film?

No. You can participate whether your film is in development, pre-production, production, post-production, on the festival circuit, in distribution, or already released.

What matters is that you have a specific film project that you want to build your strategy around.

Is this Lab for beginning or experienced filmmakers?

Both.

This isn't a filmmaking techniques class, so your level of directing or production experience isn't the deciding factor. The Lab is for indie filmmakers who want to better understand their audience, positioning, revenue opportunities, relationships, and the business strategy surrounding a specific film project.

How much work will I need to do between sessions?

Plan to do some work between Saturdays.

This is a Lab, not just a class. You'll take what we develop during our live sessions and begin applying it to your film. That may include audience research, reaching out to people, exploring Audience Bridges, having conversations, testing assumptions, or gathering feedback. You’ll bring what you learn back to the Lab so we can review, adjust, and decide what happens next.

What should I have ready before the first session?

Come prepared to work on one specific film project throughout the four weeks.

Before our first session, please have the following ready:

  • Your film title or working title

  • Genre, Logline

  • Short synopsis

  • Your Filmmaker’s AI Strategy Toolkit if you own it

If you have the Toolkit, please begin Prompt 1: Meet Your Audience before our first session. You do not need to have everything figured out or have the “perfect” answers.

Just get started.

We’ll take what you’ve discovered and go deeper together in class, challenging assumptions and beginning to build your audience strategy around your actual film. If you don't own the Toolkit, don't worry. You'll receive instructions so you can still come prepared and participate fully.

Will AI be required?

We will use AI throughout the Lab to support research, brainstorming, analysis, and strategic planning, but this is not an AI class. You do not need to be an AI expert. Your creativity, judgment, conversations with real people, and strategic decisions remain at the center of the process.

How many students will be in the Lab?

The Lab is intentionally designed to be interactive. Enrollment may be limited to ensure students have opportunities to participate, ask questions, and receive strategic guidance during our live sessions.

What if I need to cancel?

If you need to cancel your enrollment, you may request a full refund up to 7 days before the first Lab session. After that date, tuition is non-refundable.

In certain circumstances, Bluechild Academy may allow eligible tuition payments to be applied as a credit toward another Bluechild Academy program or service. Credits are issued at Bluechild Academy's discretion.
